This is composed of two foam pads with a wooden plank between to provide support and firmness, and covered with our removable and washable car seat cover with faux fleece top. The cover protects the foam bench and your car's back seat from pet debris and hair and boosts your pet to see out the car.

INSTALL ON THE FRONT SEAT (HALF BENCH VERSION):
Place the perch on the front passenger seat. Take the quilt backing which is a protector for car seats and put it over the seat's raised head rest and then secure it with the attached elastic strap and push the head rest back down.
There is a hook on the bottom of the Perch quilt that is attached to an elastic. Stretch this so that the hook can attach to something under the front seat, (most front seats have some sort of metal underpinning mechanisms) keeping tension on the front of the Perch. Some front seats in some models do not have something under them to attach this hook to. In that case use the hook as a "drag," to slip under the front seat and something solid underneath it, if available.
There is not a perfect solution to every car situation. If neither of these options is available in your car, the Lookout Perch may not be a "perfect" solution for you. Though not "perfect," it may still work for you; you have to be the best judge.
MAKE YOUR PET SAFE in the FRONT SEAT:
Finally, connect your car's seat belt into its receptacle. There are two straps on the perch with quick release buckles. Undo them and attach them to the lap belt and tighten them, securing the Perch to the seat. Your pet is now ready to ride and needs only to be in a harness for security. Attach one end of the strap we supply with this product to the seat belt and the other end with the hook to the 0 ring on your PET'S HARNESS. Enjoy.
